Appropriate screening, assessment, and early intervention are key elements of Martha’s Place. Children referred to Martha’s place undergo a comprehensive assessment of their medical, cognitive, behavioral, social, educational and emotional development as well as parental functioning.
January 2015 marks the 7th January anniversary of the opening of Martha’s Place, Children’s Assessment Center.
Martha’s Place provides mandated, evidence based services to our children ages 0 to 5 who are at risk due to abuse, neglect or prenatal drug and alcohol exposure. Because of brain development during that time, it is crucial that children birth to five be evaluated medically/developmentally as well as social/emotionally. The staff at Martha’s Place – from the public health nurse, pediatrician, and mental health therapists – are specialized in working with infants and toddlers.
